Retail Marijuana Update

News from Our Local Communities

As reported in our last newsletter, the City of Highland Park chose not to allow the sale of retail marijuana after a thorough discussion. The City plans to revisit the issue again in the future.

After two public hearings, Deerfield‘s Plan Commission made the recommendation to the Village Board to allow one retail marijuana store in certain zoning districts and with distance requirements from sensitive areas such as schools and childcare. The Board will discuss the details of its recommendation at its October 7 meeting.

After holding a public hearing, the City of Highwood‘s Plan Commission recommended allowing one retail marijuana dispensary in the downtown, with the requirement that additional public input is considered before any facility can open. The recommendation goes back to the City Council for review this month.
