On November 4, the Deerfield Village Board opted to regulate the sale of marijuana by allowing one retail dispensary. By a 4-1 vote, the Board approved a zoning ordinance that classifies retail marijuana businesses as a special use. There is delayed enactment of the ordinance to provide time for the State to issue its administrative rules and adopt a THC potency limit.
The Village of Riverwoods Plan Commission recommended a zoning amendment for a retail marijuana store as a special use within its commercial district at Milwaukee and Deerfield Roads. Dr. Susan Sirota, a physician with Pediatric Partners in Highland Park and a Riverwoods resident, has been invited to speak at the December 3 village board meeting, at which time a vote is expected.
