Keeping our Teens Drug and Alcohol Free

QuaranTEEN tips from HPHS Student

During these times, it is important to stay energetic and high spirited, but staying home and following a routine is not easy. As a family, we have participated in a variety of events that take us outside our comfort zone.

At the beginning of the quarantine, we discovered our old Wii games console. Nearly every night, we look forward to our own Wii tournament. We tally up points and competitively try to outdo each other! Guess who is in first place?! Another cool activity is family walks and runs. We try to go outside at least once a day to get some fresh air and relieve the boredom of home. Who knew walking around the block was fun? Additionally, we have a “fancy” dinner every week. We dress up, take pictures, and order in from our favorite local spots.

I take time away from family to stay connected with friends. Recently, I downloaded an extension called Netflix Party that allows me to chat with and watch movies with friends. Trying out new activities allows us as a community to get through this pandemic in a balanced and positive way!
