Highland Park’s City Council approved an amendment to their zoning ordinance to allow retail marijuana stores within the light industrial district, located between route 41 and the railroad track. There is no limit to the number of stores, but they must be at least 1500 feet apart. Stores must apply for a conditional use permit, at which time more details such as hours of operation, security and signage would be considered.
A special SHOUT-OUT to Delta HP members Olivia Alvarez, Yaneli Betancourt, and Vicky Sobot for dedicating their time to research how local marijuana stores impact youth and sharing their findings with the City Council. We all applaud your advocacy!
